API System
Our Recommended Primary System
The API Game Data system retrieves real-time information directly from VALORANT's available game data. Instead of reading the game visually, Blob receives the relevant data and uses it to automatically update your broadcast overlays.
This is our preferred method for powering your Blob overlays and is the system we recommend for most users, especially those who are newer to broadcast production.
How It Works
The streamer or person running the game is responsible for starting the overlay.
Once the game is ready, they simply click "START OVERLAY", allowing Blob to begin receiving and displaying the available game data.
This makes the API system particularly convenient for simpler production setups where one person may be responsible for both streaming and managing the broadcast.
Advantages
- Reads game data directly rather than relying on screen recognition
- Our recommended primary system for most broadcasts
- Simple setup for streamers and smaller production teams
- The streamer can start the overlay themselves
- Does not require a second computer or dedicated OCR operator
- Provides real-time game information for your broadcast HUD
- Recommended for users who are newer to production or want a simpler workflow
Limitations
- The API system does not currently provide player health data.
- The API can also be temporarily affected when VALORANT receives a game update. Because Blob's API integration needs to be updated to work with changes made by VALORANT, the system may be unavailable for a day or two following an update.
- If you have a broadcast scheduled during this period, you can use the OCR System as an alternative way to continue receiving live game data.
- We are actively working towards developing our own independent solution to reduce the impact of VALORANT updates and make the API system more reliable in the future.
