OCR System
Our Backup and Alternative System
The OCR (Optical Character Recognition) Game Data system works differently from the API system. Instead of accessing the game's data directly, Blob visually reads the information displayed on the VALORANT screen.
It can serve as an important backup system when the API is temporarily unavailable, such as following a VALORANT update.
It also provides access to information that is not currently available through our API system, including player health.
How It Works
The OCR system works best when the game is displayed in a dedicated, clean viewing environment (Staring at a black void).
You will need two people or two computers available for the best production workflow.
Ideally, someone other than the streamer or observer should be responsible for running the OCR system. This person starts the overlay and keeps the game scoreboard visible on a black screen.
Advantages
- Reads live game information directly from the screen
- Acts as a backup when the API system is temporarily unavailable
- Can display player health on the broadcast HUD
- Useful for productions that require additional live game information
- Can be operated separately from the main streamer or observer workflow
- Ideal for productions with a dedicated producer or additional computer available
Limitations
- Agent Select data is not currently available
- Post-game data is not currently available
- Requires a dedicated screen or viewing setup for the OCR to read
- Works best with two people or two computers
- The OCR operator should ideally be separate from the streamer or observer
